8th Edition of Connected Kenya Summit Set for March

The 8th edition of the annual Connected Kenya Summit is set to be held on 21st March to 24th March, 2016 at Leisure Lodge Beach and Golf Resort, Diani, Kwale County to help identify gaps that may

hinder the growth of the ICT business sector and share knowledge, best practice and lessons learnt based on experience in implementing ICT projects in the country.

With the new Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of ICT Mr. Joe Mucheru and former CEO ICT Authority Mr Victor Kyalo, now the Principal Secretary, ICT and Innovation and   Mr Sammy Itemere, Principal Secretary, Telecommunications and Broadcasting, the summit, themed Bridging the service gap, is must attend for players in the innovation and startup scene as well as content creators and even telcos.

Though this is not a bill drafting or law-making platform, the summit will allow free knowledge sharing and way forward on implementing some of the country’s major ICT projects such as Konza City, Entreprise Fund among others. It won’t be suprising if Mucheru announces a new fund for local ICT entreprenuers or subsidies for global giants such as Google, Microsoft, HP, DELL among others to set up shop at the Konza Metropolis.

Device manufacturers and vendors might even benefit more and so is the issue of infrastructure sharing, the issue of dominance and mobile number portability among others. The USF fund might not miss on the agenda and attendes should expect more light into the controversial laptop project. Not sure if Tandaa Grants will get a mention but the audience is a right fit for the successes and failures of such government programmes.

The summit will also be Robert Mugo first major event as an acting Chief Executive Officer of the ICT Authority.
